Manchester United youth manager Neil Wood has praised his U19 side for the character they showed to come from behind and defeat Atalanta in the Youth League on Wednesday.
United recorded their second victory in the youth tournament, which mirrors the Champions League group stages, having defeated BSC Young Boys in their opening match before being thumped 4-1 by Villarreal last time out.
Wood's side dominated the early proceedings at Leigh Sports Village in midweek but fell behind in the 20th minute when Simone Panada capitalised on a defensive error to give Atalanta the lead.
United produced an emphatic response and within ten minutes of going behind led 3-1 thanks to goals from Zidane Iqbal, Joe Hugill and Alejandro Garnacho.
