It's about to get a whole lot hotter in Greater Manchester this week. Clear skies, brilliant sunshine and temperatures warmer than the Canary Islands are predicted as the UK welcomes a heatwave.

Friday is tipped to be the hottest day of the year so far, with temperatures forecast to reach as high as 27C in our region.

Elsewhere in the UK, conditions will soar above average during the heatwave, with some southern areas reaching 30C and 34C. Today (Thursday 16 June) is also set to be a warm one, with sunny intervals forecast and temperatures topping 23C.

The morning will start with sunny spells, turning cloudy from 10am. The sun will return for lunchtime, as it warms up to 19C in Greater Manchester.
