Manchester City footballer Bernardo Silva has welcomed a “new family member” with his girlfriend Ines Degener Tomaz. The Blues midfielder, 28, announced his engagement to Portuguese model Ines, 24, in May this year, two months after welcoming French Bulldog John.
Silva named the pup in honour of his City teammate John Stones, who he has described as his “good friend”. Speaking in an Instagram video at the time, Silva said he is “very close” with Stones and “always said to him if I ever get a dog I would call him John.” He added: “It's actually a great name, we love it. On Friday, Silva and Ines took to Instagram to share a cute snap of the beaming couple posing on a park bench with John on Silva’s lap, while Ines wraps her arms around their latest furry addition, Charles.
Captioning the post, Ines wrote: “New family member. Welcome Charles,” followed by a red heart emoji. Fans of the Portugal international were quick to congratulate the couple, with many joking he should have name the pooch after another teammate.
One follower wrote: “Congratulations on your new fur baby. Welcome to the sky blue family Charles. “Shocked that he isn’t named Kyle Walker.” City news page city_xtra said: “Missed the chance to have John and Ruben,” referencing Silva’s Portugal teammate Rúben Neves. “Awww, what a beautiful family!
