Manchester Arena bomber's brother living under new identity and says he 'will not be attending' public inquiry

The elder brother of Manchester Arena bomber Salman Abedi 'will not be attending' the public inquiry into the atrocity and is 'unwilling' to give any evidence.

The Manchester Evening New s has been sent a statement from Ismail's Abedi's legal team that was supplied to the inquiry ahead of his scheduled appearance to give evidence on Thursday.

Mr Abedi - who his solicitor said has been 'assigned a new identity to protect him' - was stopped by police at Manchester Airport as he tried to leave the country on August 28 and questioned under the Terrorism Act, but boarded a flight and left the country the very next day.
