Police were called to the McColl's convenience store on Lightbowne Road at around 1.30pm on Thursday, January 14 following an argument between two men.

Upon their arrival officers discovered that a man, aged 32, had suffered a cut to his cheek. He sustained the injury following an altercation with a knife, GMP said.

A 32-year-old man was arrested and has since been released under investigation. Speaking to the M.E.N, the victim said he is lucky not to have been more seriously injured, as the wound is close to his eye.
