A man has been jailed for life after murdering a six-year-old boy nearly 30 years ago. James Watson, 41, killed Rikki Neave after luring him to the woods near his Peterborough home on November 28, 1994.

He tied the boy from behind with either a ligature or anorak collar in order to fulfil a 'morbid fantasy' which he told his mother about three days before the incident.

Watson, aged 13 at the time, stripped Rikki and posed his naked body in a star shape for sexual gratification, apparently "exhibiting" the young boy near a children's woodland den.

After an 11-week trial at the Old Bailey, Watson was found guilty of murder and sentenced to life with a minimum term of 15 years.
