A man drowned after trying to recreate the iconic "I'm flying, Jack" scene with his partner. The pair chose the edge of a pier to recreate the moment from the movie in which Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet "fly" at the front of the Titanic. But things went badly wrong for Furkan Ciftci and his partner Mine Dinar, both 23, after they plunged into the ocean during their recreation of the moment. The pair had been on a fishing trip together where they had drunk alcohol and wanted to re-enact the scene together.Ciftci tragically drowned after they fell off the pier together in Kocaeli, Turkey. They had reportedly crossed a security chain together and fell into the sea shortly after their attempt at the pose from the James Cameron-directed movie.Fishermen who were nearby saw what happened and rushed to help the pair, rescuing Mine when she grabbed onto the end of a rod which had been extended.Rescuers managed to pull her to safety, but boyfriend Ciftci had vanished beneath the waves.Emergency services were called to the scene to search for the missing 23-year-old while Mine was taken to hospital in an ambulance.Tragically, Ciftci's lifeless body was pulled from the water by a diving team some two hours after the ordeal.Speaking to police afterwards, Mine said that she and her partner had thought it would be funny to recreate the "Titanic pose".They had crossed the safety chain together to stand on the edge of the pier when they lost their balance.CCTV footage showed the couple's final moments together setting up chairs on the pier to start fishing.Ciftci's body is set to undergo an autopsy before the funeral takes place, with the investigation into the incident continuing.
