A heartbroken mother has told how her son died after "cowboy" surgeons allegedly botched his hair transplant. Athar Rasheed, 30, who worked as a TV executive in New Delhi hoped to "boost his confidence" after being convinced to take up the discount surgery last year.Local media reports that the surgery, which would usually cost thousands, may have been offered for as little as £150.

Mum Asiya Begum, 62, has warned others against getting the discount surgery, which allegedly left her son dying a slow and painful death over the past few months after he contracted sepsis. The devastated mum says she watched as complications caused her son's head to swell as his kidneys and organs failed.

Speaking to local media, she said: "My son died a very painful death - his kidneys stopped functioning and then all his other organs collapsed.

I lost my son but I don't want any other mother to lose their child because of the fraudulent practices of a few people."The Mirror reports that images shared by Ms Begum at the press conference show her son's bloated face as well as a black rash that had spread all over his face and body. The exact price the man paid for the surgery has not been divulged, but some local media outlets speculated that it was around £100 to £150, compared to the near-£5,000 it would normally cost.
