Sergio Gomez says he has joined Manchester City to win trophies after finalising his move from Anderlecht. Gomez, 21, ends City's search for a covering left-back following Aleks Zinchenko's move to Arsenal.

The initial plan was for Gomez to be assessed and potentially sent out on loan, but Pep Guardiola decided to keep the Spaniard at the Etihad after deciding he would represent better value than returning to the transfer market for another senior left-back.

With seven goals and 15 assists for Vincent Kompany's Anderlecht side last season after being moved back from his natural attacking positions, Gomez can offer City a different option on the left.

Upon completing his transfer, he said that he can improve City's offensive options from left-full-back, and has spoken about his ambitions to help the club continue to win silverware. ALSO READ: Begiristain explains why City have signed Sergio Gomez Gomez said: “It's a great step for me.
