Man charged with murder after body of woman, 37, found at house

A woman found dead at a house in Lancashire has been named with a man due to appear in court charged with her murder. Police were called to an address in Congress Street in Chorley at around 2:30am in the early hours of Friday (May 26) to reports of a 'sudden death.' Officers attended and found the body who has now been named as 37-year-old Fiona Robinson.

She had been living in Chorley after moving from Barrow-in-Furness last year Lancashire Police said. A Home Office post-mortem has been carried out and has concluded Ms Robinson died as a result of 'multiple injuries.' Her family have been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers the force said. He is due to appear at Preston Magistrates' Court on Monday (May, 29). Detectives say their investgation is ongoing and they are now appealing for anyone with information that may assist their enquiries to come forward.

DCI Mark Haworth-Oates, of Lancashire Police’s Major Investigation Team, said: “First and foremost our thoughts are with Fiona’s loved ones, who are going through unimaginable pain. "We are determined to provide answers for them and although we have charged someone our investigation is ongoing.“We are appealing for any information that could help us piece together what happened.
