Major Edinburgh road locked down by police amid 'ongoing incident'

A major road in Edinburgh has been locked down to an ongoing police incident this evening. An area outside Haymarket train station at Clifton Terrace has been locked down, with emergency services, including cops and Scottish Ambulance Service, in attendance.

Eyewitnesses report a number of blue-lit police vans and an ambulance at the scene in the city's west end, as well as tape cordoning off the area to pedestrians and traffic, according to EdinburghLive.The nature of the incident is not yet known, nor is how many people are involved or if any injuries have been sustained.

A number of buses are being diverted.Lothian Buses state on their website: "Due to a road closure buses are unable to serve Haymarket Terrace, Roseburn Terrace and Shandwick Place and are instead diverted via Murrayfield Road, Ravelston Dykes, Queensferry Terrace, Queensferry Road, Queensferry Street in both directions until further notice."They addaded: "Due to a road closure buses are unable to serve Dalry Road, West Maitland Street and Shandwick Place and are instead diverted via Henderson Terrace, West Approach Road and Lothian Road in both directions until further notice."Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
