Spanish Movie Powerhouse Atresmedia Cine Taps ‘Ane’ Director David Perez Sanudo for ‘Cava dos Fosas’ (EXCLUSIVE)
John Hopewell Chief International CorrespondentAtresmedia Cine, one of Spain’s biggest film production companies, has tapped David Pérez Sañudo, writer-director of “Ane,” the country’s biggest first feature breakout of 2020, to write and direct a new movie, an adaptation of Felix García Hernán’s “Cava dos fosas.”Part of Spain’s Buendía Estudios, a 50/50 joint venture between broadcaster Atresmedia and pay TV/SVOD giant Movistar Plus, Atresmedia Cine has optioned in exclusivity rights to the novel.News of Pérez Sañudo’s second feature comes on the eve of the Spanish Academy’s 35th Goya Awards where “Ane” is nominated in five categories – best picture, new director, actress, adapted screenplay, supporting actress – a measure of the industry
