LIVERPOOL will host Eurovision 2023 on behalf of Ukraine after beating Glasgow to the bid. TV host Graham Norton announced the results on The One Show - and confirmed Eurovision's date will be on 13th May 2023.
Telly fans rejoiced as Liverpool was named the host city for the prestigious annual music extravaganza. They flocked to Twitter to comment after host of the show Graham opened the envelope to reveal Liverpool, home of the Beatles, had won the bid over Glasgow.
One fan said: "I'm sure Eurovision will be a high point for Liverpool in the history of popular music." Another said: "Yay, Liverpool." As runner-up and a member of the 'big five', the UK has stepped up to host the competition for the first time in 24 years. Despite Ukraine's hopes to rebuild before the competition the decision was made to allow the UK to take over the hosting.
