Ian Evatt felt Owen Beck did 'okay' on his debut for Bolton Wanderers as he outlined why he took the young defender off midway through the clash against Tranmere Rovers.

Beck has joined the Whites on loan for the campaign from Liverpool. It follows a previous loan spell with Portuguese side Familicao being ended early due to a lack of game time.

The 20-year-old Wales under-21 international has had to wait for his Bolton debut after joining the club on the penultimate day of the summer transfer window.

He started the 2-2 draw against Tranmere on Tuesday evening in the Papa Johns Trophy, which Wanderers lost on penalties 5-4 in a shootout.
