Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson (born October 25, 1984), known professionally as Katy Perry, is an American singer, songwriter, and television judge. After singing in church during her childhood, she pursued a career in gospel music as a teenager.

Perry signed with Red Hill Records and released her debut studio album Katy Hudson under her birth name in 2001, which was commercially unsuccessful. She moved to Los Angeles the following year to venture into secular music after Red Hill ceased operations and she subsequently began working with producers Glen Ballard, Dr. Luke, and Max Martin.

After adopting the stage name Katy Perry and being dropped by The Island Def Jam Music Group and Columbia Records, she signed a recording contract with Capitol Records in April 2007.

A truly A-list event. Celebrities including Lionel Richie and Jill Biden attended King Charles III‘s coronation ceremony at Westminster Abbey in London on Saturday, May 6.The “All Night Long” singer, 73, and the first lady, 71, were both present as Charles, 74, was officially crowned king.

Other guests included French president Emmanuel Macron, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and actress Emma Thompson, who was made a dame in 2018 for her services to drama.The new monarch’s coronation was considerably smaller than the 1953 ceremony where his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, was crowned, with the palace sending only 2,000 invitations to his, compared to 8,000 for hers.

Despite the more streamlined process, the festivities are still shaping up to be star-studded.For the coronation concert on Sunday, May 7, the king and Queen Camilla will be honored with performances by Richie, Katy Perry, Andrea Bocelli, Sir Bryn Terfel, Take That, Freya Ridings, and Alexis Ffrench.

The event — which will take place on the grounds of Windsor Castle — will be hosted by Hugh Bonneville.“I’m delighted to be taking part in this unique event, celebrating the best of musical entertainment in honor of His Majesty’s coronation,” the Downton Abbey alum, 59, said in a statement last month. “In true British style, come rain or shine it will be a night to remember.”Perry, 38, and Richie have known Charles for years because of their work with some of the king’s charities.
