LINE Of Duty star Martin Compston's new drama The Nest was "axed by the BBC" after just one series. The drama - which follows a married couple who are unable to conceive before turning to an 18-year-old to be the surrogate - was axed due to Covid-19, reports claim.
This is despite pulling in eight million viewers when it aired in spring 2020. An insider told the Daily Star: "It was decided they wouldn't commission another run of The Nest. "The show was a really big deal for Martin.
It was his chance to prove he can be a star away from Line Of Duty. And while he gave a great performance, it wasn't enough." Another added: "It is much harder to make shows at the moment because of all the restrictions. "All channels are having to prioritise.
