Many of us have come to see it as an odd term of endearment, but it appears Superintendent Ted Hastings’s classic one-liner in Line of Duty is more sentimental than we thought.
Throughout Line of Duty, Hastings, played by Irish actor Adrian Dunbar, can be heard muttering the words ‘Mother of God,’ at certain points in a number of episodes.
We believed this was just something his character was scripted to say, but it turns out, the character trait has a more personal connection to the actor.
