Liam Gallagher and long-suffering brother Noel seem no nearer to any kind of meaningful reconciliation, then. Liam has slated a cover Noel and his band High Flying Birds performed of Joy Division’s Love Will Tear Us Apart yesterday.
Noel appeared on Radio 2 with the High Flying Birds, accompanied by the string section of the BBC Orchestra, to perform the Manchester standard, along with a handful of other tracks.
But ever willing to put the boot in, Liam has taken to Twitter to ‘apologise’ for his brother’s rendering of the tune. “I must once again apologise on behalf of my family for Rkids p**s poor and damn rite blasphemous version of joy division’s love will tear us apart tut f**king tut SORRY,” he said. Introducing it, he said: “We are at the BBC and you can't get out the BBC without doing a cover. When [the BBC] asked me to do this I was like ‘I'm afraid I'm all Bob Dylan-ed out…… I don't know what to do’. “I would play this song, this version of it, at home down the years.
