Liam Fox has left Dundee United after just five months in charge as he paid the price for a horror run of form that sees them anchored to the foot of the Scottish Premiership.

Tannadice chiefs gathered on Sunday evening for an emergency meeting in the wake of a 4-0 pasting against relegation rivals Ross Country 24 hours earlier.

That result proved the final straw for Fox as his side were cut adrift at the bottom. The 39-year-old succeeded Jack Ross who was binned after just two months following a humiliating 9-0 defeat by Celtic at Tannadice.

But he hasn’t been able to turn things around with just seven wins in his 25 matches in charge in all competitions. They have failed to win any of their last six league games and crashed out of the Scottish Cup last-16 at the hands of fellow league strugglers Kilmarnock.
