Lanarkshire politicians' 'disappointment' at Levelling Up funding rejections

Monklands politicians have hit out after funding bids for major development projects in both Airdrie and Coatbridge were rejected.North Lanarkshire Council had submitted a total of four applications to the UK government’s Levelling Up fund, but did not receive any financial support for either their residential plans for Airdrie town centre or proposals to create a Coatbridge visitor gateway centred on Summerlee museum.Council leader Jim Logue and respective constituency MPs Anum Qaisar and Steven Bonnar all said they were “extremely disappointed” that the two bids were turned down, saying the regeneration projects would have had a major positive impact on the local economy.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
