A burst pipe and flood damage to the stadium forced Blantyre Vics’ West of Scotland League First Division clash at home to Thorniewood United to be postponed. But Vics boss John Gibson reckons torrential rain from Thursday into Friday will see most games being called off anyway.Vics made a decision on the South Lanarkshire derby on Thursday, such was the carnage at the KG Stadium.Boss John Gibson said: “During the cold weather we ended up with a couple of burst pipes up above, and getting them fixed has been a bit of a nightmare.“We had a plumber in, he’s obviously not fixed the issues and we’re trying to get someone in this week.“There is a wee bit of damage to the stadium as well, we’re going to have to work through that, and unfortunately the game is off, because we had been looking forward to it.“It would have been good to get a game on to end the year, and when you’ve not got Rangers or Celtic playing, you’ve always got a good chance of getting quite a good crowd.“It’s one of those things, we have to try and work through it and get the dressing rooms sorted for the next couple of weeks.”On weather conditions towards the end of the week, Gibson said: “There won;t be many grass parks that will get on with that weather – the rain was very heavy.“I’m hoping to get a friendly arranged for Saturday morning and we’re just waiting to hear on that, which will keep us ticking over.”Follow Lanarkshire Live Sport onTwitter via@LanLiveSport, like us onFacebookor find us onInstagramfor the latest sports news, pictures and video.
