Lanarkshire business helping people get back on their bikes with repair scheme

A bike specialist is again offering free repairs to help keep Lanarkshire cyclists in the saddle.Connor Mooney, who runs Cairney Cycles from a workshop in Newmains, has signed up as a provider of the relaunched Scotland Cycle Repair Scheme.Cycling UK is working with bike shops across Scotland to provide 20,000 free repairs and maintenance, funded by the Scottish Government.

Almost 200 bike shops are already signed up to the scheme, including Cairney Cycles.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

He fixed more than 250 bikes under the scheme last time around.The former St Aidan’s High pupil launched his bike repair venture last year.The 29-year-old had previously worked at Halfords and took his own bike in for repair, but was stunned to hear there was a three-month wait.
