KitKat is launching a new product next month which will allow people to 'have a break' before the work day even begins. The chocolate firm's parent company Nestlé has announced that a KitKat cereal will be arriving on supermarket shelves next month. The cereal has been adapted to preserve that chocolatey wafer taste that KitKat fans love while offering it in a new format.

Nestlé says that the cereal will offer some nutritional benefits, including five vitamins, calcium and iron. However, with 7.4g of sugar per 30g, the chocolate and coffee giant added that the new cereal is more of an 'indulgent' option for every now and then as opposed to a daily morning meal.

Sarah Fordy, Head of Marketing at Cereal Partners UK & Ireland, said: "We're delighted to announce the partnership between Nestlé Cereals and KitKat. "This exciting new cereal delivers a delicious taste of KitKat and has been developed to cater to consumers who are looking for an occasional, indulgent breakfast option, that can be enjoyed as part of a balanced diet."It comes as Nestlé last month reported that profits had tumbled by 45 percent amid rampant food inflation.

To combat a challenging market the firm has discontinued some products such as lactose-free creamer Coffee Mate Light.Nestlé owns a number of household names on top of KitKat including Nescafé, Aero, Smarties and Quality Street.
