msn.comKevin Costner and his wife Christine Baumgartner are getting divorced, a representative for the actor has announced. “It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage,” the Hollywood star’s publicist Arnold Robinson said. “We ask that his, Christine’s and their children’s privacy be respected as they navigate this difficult time,” he added.
Costner and Baumgartner, a model and handbag designer, began dating in 1998 before getting married at his Colorado ranch in 2004.
According to TMZ, Baumgartner, 49, asked for joint custody of their three children: Cayden, 15, Hayes, 14, and Grace, 12. Costner reportedly responded to the petition on Tuesday, also requesting joint custody of the children.
It was the second marriage for Costner, 68, the Oscar and Emmy-winning star of TV’s Yellowstone and films including Dances With Wolves, The Bodyguard and Bull Durham.
