Keke Palmer Says The Music Industry Needs Its Own #MeToo Movement

Keke Palmer is speaking out about her experience in the music industry. The 29-year-old singer just released a new album Big Boss along with an accompanying film which follows her journey in the industry, including experiences with sexual harassment. “Bad sh– happens in all industries, obviously, but specifically entertainment,” Keke said. Keep reading to find out more… “We know bad things happen in all of them, but it’s almost like the acting world represents a union and the music industry represents non-union,” she said. Keke said that while the Me Too movement shook up the acting world, the same thing needs to happen in the music world. “It’s like everybody is being paid, and everybody’s a crooked cop,” Keke told People. “So, it seems like nothing will ever really come to a head.” In the film Big Boss, she includes scenes that are not only inspired by real events, but events that actually took place, notably with Trey Songz. “Those scenes are real,” Keke said. “Those scenes are not actually inspired by that moment.

Obviously, people know that moment and are aware of that scenario from when it happened and when I spoke about it. But that just goes to show, that was one of many moments where things go down in this industry.” If you didn’t see, Keke Palmer‘s two-month old son, Leodis Jackson, made his red carpet debut last month.
