Prince William’s group of friends gave young Kate Middleton a cruel nickname while studying at St Andrew's University where the married royal couple met.
According to royal expert Katie Nicholl, William’s friends would call Kate a name that mocked her mum Carole Middleton. They would reportedly say to the Princess of Wales: "Doors to Manual", which is a reference to Carole’s former career as a British Airways flight attendant.
She revealed on the Vanity Fair Dynasty podcast: "To her full credit, Kate never rose to it - the snootiness of the upper classes levelled at what they called the en-masse Middletons." Although Kate didn’t like the cruel nickname, an aide previously told the Sunday Times Magazine that Kate rose above it and didn’t let it get her down. They said: "It was never water off a duck's back, but she has extraordinary strength of character and resilience.
I've never once seen or heard of her losing her temper." Kate is now fully integrated into the royal family and has three children with William who she has now been married to for 12 years. The royal made a surprise appearance as she visited the Chelsea Flower Show on Tuesday and shared a five-word reply when asked about life as a working royal.
