Kate Garraway's husband Derek back in hospital just days after meeting idol Elton John

Good Morning Britain's Kate Garraway detailed a health update on Derek Draper during Thursday's show. It came as the broadcaster detailed the "surreal" moment Sir Elton John dedicated a song to Derek during a concert.

Kate went on to explain Derek is back in hospital this week after the emotional night in which he met the legendary singer. After recalling the special evening, Kate revealed Derek's health must have taken a decline.

She stated: "It's one of those moments. . . there's a lot of things in life where I've looked at Derek, and he's back in hospital this week, and I've thought, 'You've had such an incredible amount of bad luck,' but it's a reminder of what incredible luck comes from love. On Elton's concert, Kate beamed as she explained: "[It was] wonderful, with lots of planning and lots of kindness from Elton John. "We managed to get Derek to go and see Elton John play and that was Elton's goal because he's been so supportive throughout. "He said, wouldn't it be wonderful if one day, we spoke about this two or three years ago, if one day, he could see him play. "And so we went, we made it happen thanks to so many people that were involved that were just so kind - nurses, carers, all sorts of people. "So that was enough.
