Johnstone High School pupils get top award nod for litter picking success

Johnstone High School have been honoured with a top environmental award for their work cleaning up the community.Youngsters at the Beith Road secondary school picked up the Summer Clean Hero Award, which was given to them by environmental charity Keep Scotland Beautiful.The award nod recognised the school’s contribution to the charity’s Clean Up Scotland campaign, and particularly the Summer Clean, and it will be given additional litter picking equipment, provided by Helping Hand Environmental, to support future litter picking events.Approximately 300 pupils have carried out hour-long litter picks throughout the Summer Clean with over 15,000 minutes pledged toward the UK-wide Million Mile Mission.They have collected over 60 bags of litter.
