bombshell defamation trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard is now the subject of a new movie which is due for release in just a matter of weeks.
The film - which is entitled Hot Take: The Depp/Heard Trial - will follow the tumultuous relationship between the Pirates of the Caribbean star and his ex-wife, both in and out of court.
It is set to debut exclusively on the free Tubi streaming service on September 30. The film stars Days of Our Lives actor Mark Hapka as Depp and former American Horror Story actress Megan Davis as Heard.
Melissa Marty will portray Depp’s lawyer Camille Vasquez and Marry Carrig will play Heard’s counsel Elaine Bredehoft. In a statement, Adam Lewinson – Tubi’s chief content officer – said: "Hot Take: The Depp/Heard Trial has Hot Take in the title for a reason. "With our partners at MarVista, this Tubi Original was fast-tracked into production to capture a timely take on a story that became part of the cultural zeitgeist, painting a unique picture of what millions watched play out in the headlines over the summer. "59-year-old Depp successfully sued his ex-wife for defamation over an op-ed she wrote for the Washington Post in 2018, in which she discussed her experiences with domestic abuse.
