Jim Goodwin reckons he has never felt as bad in football as he did after Aberdeen’s stoppage-time collapse against Rangers. The Dons had been winning 2-1 at Pittodrie on Tuesday night but lost goals in the 95th and 97th minute left them stunned and empty-handed.
The manager reckoned it was even worse than missing out on promotion with Alloa via a penalty shoot-out on the last day of the season to Brechin in 2017.The under-fire boss has been getting it in the neck from the Aberdeen fans for the manner of the two late defeats against Celtic and then Rangers.
Goodwin said: “Look back at the last two games and we were a matter of minutes from picking up points in both games. Callum McGregor scored that goal three minutes from the end and the other night we were 2-1 up in the 95th minute.“That’s the hardest thing I’ve had to deal with certainly as a manager.
I missed out on getting promoted in my first season with Alloa in a penalty shoot-out in the play-off final. What I felt after the game on Tuesday was worse than what I felt that night.
