Jay Slater TV detective theory on ‘real reason’ teen ‘wouldn’t wait for lift back’ to Tenerife apartment

Jay Slater left the Airbnb where he had spent the night before he disappeared 'because he was hungry' it has been claimed by a TV detective Mark Williams-Thomas has told reporters he interviewed a man who drove with Mr Slater to an the rental property in Masca after meeting him in Playa de las Americas in the south of the island.

Jay, from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire was said to have been driven to Masca by Ayub Qassim, 31, known by the nickname 'Johnny Vegas', and an unnamed second man, whom Spanish police have both deemed to be of no relevance to their missing person investigation, the Express reports.

Mr Qassim has said apprentice bricklayer Jay, 19, arrived at the AirBnB and left it alive following a party held after a music festival he had attended.. It is believed the apprentice bricklayer missed a bus and decided to make the return journey on foot, which takes about 11 hours.
