ITV set to land rights to Oprah Winfrey’s Harry and Meghan interview for £1m

ITV is expected to land the UK rights to Oprah Winfrey’s potentially explosive interview with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, for £1m.

The broadcaster is tipped to win a bidding war with Sky for the 90-minute special, due to be broadcast on the US CBS network on Sunday night.

ViacomCBS, which is selling the international rights, and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex want the “tell-all” interview to air on a terrestrial channel.

Netflix, which has a production deal with the Sussexes, and Amazon Prime did not make a bid. The Duchess is believed to have wanted the BBC to clear its schedules for the programme.
