ITV newsreader, 46, lost her balance just as she set off for the race live at the Lee Valley VeloPark in London. She was unable to complete the rest of the event and was disqualified as it would have been too dangerous to reintroduce her to the track as the other women were riding.

It came after earlier during training viewers saw how Love Island star Olivia Attwood fell after crashing into the back of Phoenix Gulzer-Brown's bike in an accident that worsened her injured shoulder.

During the tense live event, singer Chelcee Grimes continued her winning streak, taking gold and came first yards ahead of her fellow competitors.

Christine McGuinness came second while Rebecca Sarker placed third. Speaking after the event an ecstatic Christine said: 'My seat was wonky the whole way but I'm happy!
