Influencer blasted online after 'demanding' free puppy from rescue centre

An influencer has faced backlash after asking a rescue centre for a free puppy in exchange for promotion on Instagram. Writing to the animal charity, the unknown social media star requested that they 'sponsor a puppy of her choice' in return for online exposure, the Mirror reports.

In the message, which has since been posted to Reddit, she wrote: "Hi. Are you guys keen on collaboration with me? "I will be able to deliver one Instagram carousel post and one Instagram story post (a repost of the first post)."You guys will need to sponsor me a puppy of my choice.

Usually companies sponsor products and remuneration. The reason why I'm keen on this collaboration is because I'm looking for a buddy for my current dog."While most users saw no problem with her wanting to work with the charity, they raised issue with her expecting a puppy for free, claiming 'there seems to be more in it for her than the rescue centre'.

One user said: "Most of the time those 'influencers' have fewer followers that the person or business they are asking something from."Another user added: "Because those are the homes we want shelter dogs going to - people who saw one on their favourite influencer’s Instagram and go adopt one on a whim." A third user said: "You guys will need to sponsor me a puppy of my choice."Number one - that’s not asking, it’s demanding.
