Idris Elba
Idrissa Akuna Elba OBE (born 6 September 1972) is an English actor, writer, producer, rapper, singer, songwriter and DJ. He is known for roles including Stringer Bell in the HBO series The Wire, DCI John Luther in the BBC One series Luther, and Nelson Mandela in the biographical film Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom (2013). He has been nominated four times for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Miniseries or Television Film, winning one, and was nominated five times for a Primetime Emmy Award.

Idris Elba bookies' favourite to become James Bond after film boss discusses him becoming spy

Idris Elba has been revealed as the bookies’ latest favourite to become the new James Bond.The 49 year old Luther actor has long been in the running to take on the mantle of 007 and replace Daniel Craig, 53, as MI6’s most iconic spy.

But the latest odds seem to hint the fan-favourite Hollywood star, who is married to Sabrina Dhowre, could have the role in the bag.

It comes following 61 year old executive producer Barbara Broccoli shared public support for the actor. As a result, Coral boss John Hill revealed Idris’s odds have been dramatically slashed and punters are rushing to put their money on the star’s impending announcement.
