Iconic Indian restaurant to expand from Ayr after 30 years

One of Ayrshire's most iconic restaurants is to expand its culinary reach in 2023.Bosses at Ayr India are on the lookout for a new venture in the north of the county.The famous brand - which boasts two renowned eateries in South Ayrshire - is on the lookout for premises in Largs.

Gagandeep Sangha, who heads up Ayr India's Alloway Place branch, told Ayrshire Live: "Our family has a history with the town of Largs, as my father Narinder used to manage his cousin's restaurant, The Koh I Noor, on the town's seafront. "That was back in the 1990s and the family made many friends there."We always said that we'd love the opportunity to open up our own place when the time was right."Largs is a beautiful town with some of the most lovely customers and we really believe we can make a success of things there."Ayr India, established in 1992, has set the benchmark for others to follow over three decades of trading in the town and also boasts a popular curry house on Ayr seafront.Gagandeep added: "We'd like to think that our food and quality of service speaks for itself."Business has been tough for everyone in the hospitality trade these last couple of years, but hopefully we are coming out the other side of that now."We can't wait to be on the doorstep of Largs and surrounding areas and we hope the local communities will support us when we open."Not only are we looking at independent premises, but also teaming up within existing hotels and pubs if the chance arises."Don't miss the latest Ayrshire headlines –sign up to our free daily newsletter here
