'I was robbed at knifepoint in Selfridges'

Police are investigating a report that a teenager was robbed at kinfepoint in one of Manchester's most exclusive stores. The 19-year-old, from South Yorkshire, has reported that he had an £1800 Louis Vuitton bag taken from him in the incident at Selfridges at Exchange Square.

The department store has confirmed it is supporting officers with their investigation after an 'incident', while Greater Manchester Police say they are 'following lines of enquiry'. The man is then said to have snatched the 19-year-old's phone from his back pocket. Then, once they reached the top, he is said to have ordered him to hand over his £1,800 Louis Vuitton bag and threatened him with a knife.

The victim’s friend, who was with him at the time, quickly approached security and alerted them of the crime. The mother of the complainant, who did not wish to be named, has now warned others to stay vigilant while out shopping. “He was targeted and followed around the store,” the 49-year-old told the Manchester Evening News. “The guy came up behind him, took his phone out of his pocket and once they got to the top he said, ‘It’s the phone or the bag’. “He said he had a knife and that [my son] would be stabbed.
