She claims she and her friends were stopped by Guidance Police - known as the Gasht-e Ershad - as they went shopping, over concerns their hijab was not being worn correctly.

So, when the mum-of-one, who has lived in Manchester since 2009, heard about the death of Mahsa Amini in police custody in Iran earlier this month, it sparked a triggering sense of familiarity. The 22-year-old collapsed at a police station and died three days later. Police say she died of a heart attack, but her family say she had no history of heart trouble, and her death has sparked defiance and protest - despite the fear of beatings and possible arrest.
