As a fourth generation farmer, Danny Humphreys dreamed of passing on this farm to his two young children. Following in the footsteps of his dad Chris, grandad and great grandads, it was a tradition he was hoping his children, Arthur and Emily, would continue.
But now, with the government's changes to inheritance tax, he sees little point in carrying on in the industry that so many are struggling to survive in.

Under the current rules, small family farms - including land used for crops or rearing animals, as well as farm buildings, cottages and houses - have been handed down through the generations without the need to pay inheritance tax under agricultural property relief (APR).
