direct to your inbox A huge £5.9 million project to replace the bridge over the A57 in Gorton has been completed following the finishing of utility and widening works.

The former railway bridge on Hyde Road has been removed and replaced with a modern footbridge and was formally opened last summer.

The new 25 metre-long bowstring arch bridge, which forms part of the Fallowfield Loop walking and cycling route, aims to ‘significantly improve’ traffic flow by eliminating a pinch point between Far Lane and Wall Way.Manchester Council has announced that additional utility works - including the construction of a new road and footway layout and the installation of a new puffin crossing - have now been completed.
