Huge fire in Dundee 'deliberate' as police probe inferno at listed building

A devastating fire that left a listed building in Dundee charred is being treated as deliberate. Firefighters battled through the night to contain the blaze that ravaged a former furniture shop on Barrack Street.

Crews were called at 6pm on Saturday night and remain at the scene on Sunday afternoon as they work to extinguish the smouldering remains.Pictures taken on Sunday show the building burnt to a shell in the aftermath of the blaze.

The roof and windows of the art deco premises - which is believed to have been unused for some time - have been corroded.Smoking debris can also be seen on the roadside as the area remains taped off by police and fire crews.

There were no reported injuries.Officers investigating the circumstances have confirmed they are treating the fire as deliberate and are following a number of lines of enquiry to identify those responsible.At the height of the incident, nine fire engines attended the inferno, with two remaining on-site today.
