Huge driving licence change announced which could impact everyone

Driving licences could get a huge overhaul with a major changes expected to be rolled out in the next few years. The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) is preparing to launch new digital licences - meaning plastic versions could be a thing of the past.

The new technology will soon be available for mobile provisional licences for learners which can be accessed on an app. It is understood the digital driving licences could then be rolled out to everyone.

Physical plastic cards will continue to be issued alongside the app, however sources say the traditional version could eventually be phased out over time, The Mirror reports.
