Jimmy Kimmel is hosting the 2023 Oscars on Sunday (March 12), and there seems to be a looming elephant in the room.
If you don’t remember, last year’s Oscars made history when Will Smith, a nominee who would eventually win Best Actor, went on stage to slap Chris Rock for making a joke about Jada Pinkett-Smith.
Now, Jimmy and his wife, executive producer Molly McNearney shared how they are planning to address it this year. Keep reading to find out more… “I have given it much thought,” Jimmy told GMA. “I know that a million jokes have been made about it, a million think pieces have been written on it… There has been a lot said about it, so whatever I say has to be I think — you know, it has to be good.” “And I do have some good things to say about it.
I think that it’s gonna be on everybody’s mind,” he continued. “Everybody’s gonna be waiting for that moment. And that will be part of the show, but certainly not the focus of the show.” “We’re going to acknowledge it, and then we’re gonna move on,” Molly added. “We don’t want to make this year about last year.
