How to deactivate Emergency Alert ahead of UK-wide test of system

The UK's Emergency Alert System - an alert used to warn people about dangerous situations, such as floods or wildfires - will be tested again later this year.

In April 2023, the UK's Emergency Alert System was tested for the first time. The system sends a notification, along with a 10-second siren sound and a vibration, to mobile phones when there is an emergency that people need to be warned about.

The previous test was supposed to go out to all mobile phones across the country compatible with 4G and 5G, who have their alerts switched on.

However, some people reported not getting the notification. Along with the siren and vibration, a warning message should appear on the notification.
