Paul O’Grady, one of the nation’s favourite presenters and TV personalities sadly passed away last month at the age of 67.The showbiz star first broke onto the scene with his drag act persona, Lily Savage, before going on to host his own talk show, plus plenty of other TV series, including a UK favourite, For The Love of Dogs.

Paul’s husband, Andre Portasio announced his death in a statement, and revealed that he passed “unexpectedly but peacefully” on Tuesday 28th March. “We ask, at this difficult time, that whilst you celebrate his life you also respect our privacy as we come to terms with this loss,” he added. “He will be greatly missed by his loved ones, friends, family, animals and all those who enjoyed his humour, wit and compassion.” “I know that he would want me to thank you for all the love you have shown him over the years.” While many fans know that Paul was a huge animal lover, he was also an advocate for animal rights, raised money for charity, and attempted to rehome over 80 cats and dogs from the Battersea animal shelter during lockdown.

In terms of his own pooches, let’s take a look at how many the 67 year old owned… Throughout his life, Paul welcomed plenty of rescue dogs into his home.

At the time of his death though, he had five pooches living on his farm in Kent, which he shared with Andre - Nancy, Arfur, Conchita, Eddie, and Sausage.
