Steven Gerrard

Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.

He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,

Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.

Pep Guardiola will have to make at least one change to his Manchester City side for the trip to Aston Villa on Wednesday night.

City are looking to extend their five-game winning run after a hard-fought win over West Ham in the snow on Sunday. Villa are resurgent under new manager Steven Gerrard, and will be looking to prove a point to Jack Grealish, who swapped Villa Park for the Etihad in the summer for £100m.

Grealish faces a race to be fit for his return to his boyhood club, as do Phil Foden and Kevin De Bruyne. All three missed the West Ham win and might be doubtful for the Villa fixture.

One player who will definitely be absent is Aymeric Laporte, who will serve a one-match suspension for picking up his fifth yellow card of the season
