Kate Middleton stunned at King Charles’ Coronation in her gown that was designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. And although the majority of the gown was cloaked by the Princess of Wales’ robe of The Royal Victorian Order, motifs were visible on the hem that harked back to the dress she wore when she married Prince William in 2011.
The floral motifs, sewn into the ivory dress using silver embroidery, were shamrocks, roses, thistles and daffodils - used to represent Britain and Ireland's national flowers.
And for many royal watchers, this would have been regarded as a throwback to her wedding dress. Her bridal gown, also designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, featured exactly the same floral motifs along the hem.
For the Coronation on Saturday, Princess Kate, 41, paired her dress with a Jess Collett x Alexander McQueen headpiece, with three-dimensional leaf embroidery made of silver thread, crystal, and gold.
