Home and Away director dies in freak accident with a saw

A former Home and Away director has died in a freak accident while trimming his garden hedge. John Clabburn cut his hand on a cordless gardening saw when he fell from a tree in his garden.

Remarkably, despite his severe injuries the 52-year-old stayed calm and was even able to ask his wife to call an ambulance. But when paramedics got to his home in Artarmon, Sydney John was suffering a cardiac arrest.

Medics were able to stabilise him but he had lost a lot of blood and sadly passed away at Royal North Shore Hospital later that night.
