BRUMMIE gangster sensation Peaky Blinders may well be spawning a new movie – but now there’s a theme park on the cards too. Tourism chiefs in Birmingham, where the mobster TV drama is set, are pushing for a visitor attraction based on the violent adventures of the Shelby gang.
Far from giving Britain’s second city a bad name, they believe the BBC show, which was set in the Twenties and Thirties and ran for six series from 2013 until last year, has put it “on the map”.
A TV insider said: “This may sound like a crazy idea but Peaky Blinders was such a phenomenon and it’s reaped huge rewards for Britain. “Although the show was ultra- violent, it also showcased our industrial past, not to mention a whole new wave of fashion and haircuts. “So it’s actually a no-brainer for tourism chiefs keen to get the maximum draw and make the most of a TV show that was an international hit.” READ MORE ON PEAKY BLINDERSFINALE CUT?
