Handyman asked to explain himself after charging grandad for repair work he never carried out

A grandad said he 'felt stupid' after paying £500 to an Oldham handyman who failed to show up to do the work. Victor Moore, who is aged in his 80s, was contacted by construction boss David Lee Jones after he used a website to search for someone to carry out repair work on his home, LancsLive reports.

David then visited his house in Burnley and gave Victor a quote of £1,000. Victor said he was then asked to pay a £500 deposit for materials which he agreed to pay in cash after David said his 'bank account isn't working'.

She said Victor already suffers from several health conditions and has a pacemaker fitted. Describing the circumstances, Jade said "[Victor] needed some jobs doing and he went onto bark.com and found someone.
